The Pietermaritzburg City Orchestra will present their annual
festive season concert, entitled Noël,
this year in collaboration with the Midlands Chamber Choir on November 28 at
the Hilton College Theatre.
Directed by Riaan Oosthuizen, the choir will be involved in
the bulk of the programme together with the orchestra, conducted by David
Plank. The repertoire explores a wide range of musical styles, with an obvious
festive season theme running throughout. Audiences can expect some firm
favourites such as Leroy Anderson's fabulous Christmas Festival, as well as a delightful new arrangement of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. There
will also be a few items paying homage to festive season movies like Home Alone and The Lemon-Drop Kid. As a special treat, the performance will also
include the world premiere of an arrangement of ancient carols by the
orchestra's own Peter van der Merwe, whose arrangement of folk songs proved to
be a favourite in last year's concert.
The concert will certainly appeal to both old and young
alike, and offers a great evening of entertainment for the whole family.
Refreshments will be on sale in the foyer.
Noël will take
place on November 28 at 19h00 in the Hilton College Theatre.Tickets R125 booked
