MILTON ACADEMY JAZZ STUDENTS

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is proud to present the Milton Academy Jazz Students (USA) on March 15 at 18h00.

Milton Academy jazz students are excited about their upcoming South African tour. This is their eleventh visit to this country.

The band is led by Bob Sinicrope, an internationally-acclaimed bassist who started the Milton’s jazz program in 1974. The faculty has grown to include over 75 students involved in the study and performance of jazz in eight different jazz groups all of which meet during the school day.

Down Beat magazine has twice named Milton’s Jazz Combo the best high school jazz group America Milton’s jazz combos have opened for such artists as James Taylor, Poncho Sanchez, Elvin Jones, T.S. Monk, Dave Holland, Jim Hall, Victor Wooten and Abdullah Ibrahim

The South African tour includes Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Join them at The Centre for Jazz & Popular Music (CJPM), Level 2 Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard College Campus in Durban on March 15, 2017. Doors open 17h30 and the music starts at 18h00 Tickets R70 (R45 pensioners, R20 students) will be available at the door.
