Tom Stoppard’s acclaimed comedy, Rosencranz and Guildenstern are Dead,
will be released at Gateway Nouveau this weekend as part of the National
Theatre Live programme.
The play, which was Stoppard’s breakthrough
when it was first staged 50 years ago, stars Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, Joshua McGuire and David Haig.
This production, which was filmed at the Old Vic theatre in London, is directed
by David Leveaux.
Against the backdrop of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, two hapless minor characters,
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, take centre stage. Increasingly out of their
depth, the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of the
Bard’s iconic drama, as their version of the story unfolds. In a literary hall
of mirrors, Stoppard’s brilliantly funny, existential labyrinth sees us witness
the ultimate identity crisis.
Rosencranz
and Guildenstern are Dead will be screened on June
3, June 7 and June 8 at 19h30. There is a sole screening on June 4 at 14h30.
The discounts and benefits valid for members of SK Club, Discovery Vitality and
Edgars Club loyalty programmes also apply for all live theatre productions.
Special prices for group bookings are also available on request. – Patrick
