Christopher Duigan will perform
masterpieces by Schumann, Ravel, Rachmaninoff and Bach at concerts in Kloof and
Pietermaritzburg.
The renowned concert pianist will perform
at St Agnes Church in Kloof at 19h30 on September 28, at Casa Mexicana, 35
Montgomery Drive, Athlone, Pietermaritzburg from 18h30 on September 29, and at
the Tatham Art Gallery in Chief Albert Luthuli Street, Pietermaritzburg on October
1 at 11h30.
Principal works include Robert Schumann's Kreisleriana, one of the composer’s most
enigmatic compositions, and Maurice Ravel's Miroirs
- a set of five pieces that explore the layered sonority and colour of the
piano.
JS Bach's Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring and Sheep
May Safely Graze, together with music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, complete the
programme.
These iconic compositions are pillars of
the classical repertoire and Duigan, a Steinway artist, will bring his unique
view on these compositions to the fore.
