TIE A KNOT IN IT

(Rowan Bartlett, Darren King & Bryan Hiles)

Coming to Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban this weekend, Tie A Knot In It (Vegas Baby!) is a fun original three-hander comedy-cabaret set in one of the lesser known venues in Las Vegas.

Starring Rowan Bartlett (star of stage and screen) Darren King (star of his own bathroom) and Bryan Hiles (disa..star) three of Durban’s most accomplished musical theatre performers, unite in a chaotic and exuberant romp through the casinos and wedding chapels of Las Vegas and the stars who have made them famous.

Hop in your gas-guzzling Mustang and cruise along Route 66 to the Flamingo Lounge for sweet talk, slick moves and smooth vocals. You can expect a cocktail of one part Dean Martin, two parts Sinatra, a dash of Robbie Williams and a twist of Cher ... served over crushed Celine Dion, shaken, not stirred.

And remember... “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!” The production may include nudity (But only if you’re lucky....)

The ever-iconic Vegas is known for three things: fabulous over-the-top casinos; extraordinary live shows ... and kitsch quick-fix weddings – all in the middle of an inaccessible, barren, sleepy desert.

Tie a Knot in It (Vegas Baby!) is a pastiche of anecdotes, humour, risqué banter ... and some brilliant era-defining songs.

King, Bartlett and Hiles have performed together for more than a decade in Think Theatre’s Othello and Hamlet (written by William Shakespeare); and have also performed in KickstArt’s Wizard of Oz together. All three are multi-award winning performers who have been in the city’s most acclaimed productions over the past two decades. This is the first time the three performers are working in a musical cabaret production together.

Tie A Knot In It (Vegas Baby!)  is conceived, written and directed by the cast.

Performances take place on October 6 and 7 at 20h00 and on October 8 at 14h00 and 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner. Tickets R150 (R130 pensioners and tables of eight or more).
