The National School of the Arts in
Johannesburg is looking to appoint a full-time music teacher specialising in
piano, harmony, history, theory and accompaniment.
Starting date will be September 1, 2019,
and the closing date for applications is July 19, 2019.
Minimum qualification is a Bachelor of
Music and key teaching responsibilities include:
- History of Music (WAM - Western Art
Music),
- Theory
- Harmony
- Piano
- Accompaniment

All short-listed candidates will be
required to conduct a harmony lesson and demonstrate their skills in
accompaniment.
The successful candidate must be available
and willing to work outside of regular school hours, when necessary, and to be
an enthusiastic participant in the annual cultural programme of the school
which includes the NSA’s Festival of the Arts. It is imperative that the
candidate possesses the soft skills necessary to thrive in a specialist arts
school environment. These skills include passion, patience, determination, and
an ability to motivate and discipline.
With a history that spans 50 years, the
National School of the Arts is South Africa’s oldest public funded School of
Specialisation in Performing and Creative Arts and is the top performing
academic school in the district.
