THE MOSCOW SOLOISTS CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to inform audiences of an exciting concert happening in Durban on September 5, 2024.

The Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble was created by the world-renowned viola player Yuri Bashmet in 1986, and completely renewed in 1992 to include graduates, students and postgraduates of the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory. The Russian debut of the new Moscow Soloists took place on May 19, 1992, on the Great Hall stage of the Conservatory, and the European one happened on May 21 on the stage of the Parisian Hall Pleyel.

The ensemble is a group of like-minded people where the impeccable feeling of the whole is combined with the bright personality of each artist. The repertoire of the Moscow Soloists includes over 350 masterpieces of Russian and world classics: from Bach and Mozart to Schnittke and Denisov. The ensemble regularly performs works by Kancheli, Gubaidulina, Alexander Tchaikovsky and other contemporary composers.

They will be presenting just two concerts in South Africa, one in Johannesburg on September 5, and locally at the Playhouse Drama Theatre on Friday September 6. Don't miss this thrilling performance, conducted by superstar Yuri Bashmet.

The Durban performance will take place on September 6, 2024, at 19h00 in the Playhouse Drama. Tickets available at Quicket.
