decades of Eric Clapton’s illustrious music career, starting with his first
band ‘The Yardbirds’ in 1964 up to present day. Featuring songs including Layla, Sunshine Of Your Love, Bell Bottom
Blues, I Shot The Sheriff, Wonderful Tonight, Change The World, Bad
Love, Tears In Heaven and Crossroads,
expect to hear Clapton’s top hits and varying guitar styles throughout his
illustrious career.
Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the ‘100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time’ and fourth in Gibson’s list of the ‘Top 50 Guitarists of All Time’. With his 70th Birthday Concerts, Eric Clapton was the first guitarist to reach 200 solo performances at the Royal Albert Hall and 45 appearances at Madison Square Garden, the most of any US venue.
Clapton has had a life of triumph and tragedy both musically and personally which fuelled a desire to help others with addictions. He founded Crossroads Centre Antigua in 1997 to help individuals in the Caribbean and around the world recover from alcohol and drug dependencies. To support its work, he sold his most treasured guitars, raising over $12 million for the Foundation and organized a concert and four Crossroads Guitar Festivals.
Turning 80 in March 2025, Clapton has 15 upcoming concerts planned for the UK, Japan, Italy and France. He has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time.
Leading the top team of Durban showband ‘The Reals’ is maestro front man Barry Thomson on guitar and vocals, Musical Director Dawn Selby on keyboards and vocals, Mali Sewell on drums, Andy Turrell on bass guitar and guest Colin Peddie on guitar and vocals.
