Enjoy a traditional Christmas gathering in
Pietermaritzburg with carols, words and song when Carols for Christmas with Richard Cock takes place on December 12. Presented
by Parklane SUPERSPAR, this traditional Christmas gathering offers an ideal
opportunity to join family and friends in the seasonal spirit.
South Africa's music maestro Richard Cock
has become known as “Mr Music” through his generous and friendly manner of
bringing people together, uplifting spirits through the joy of music. In Carols for Christmas, Richard Cock will
be host for the evening, presenting readings, both sacred and secular, and will
also sing his favourite popular Christmas songs!
He will encourage the audience, in his own
generous way, to raise the roof of the Pietermaritzburg City Hall in the
singing of carols. This will be accompanied by the grand City Hall organ played
by Christopher Cockburn.
Additional musical delights will be
provided by pianist Christopher Duigan who plays the traditional Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. He is joined by “star”
Pietermaritzburg-born soprano, Bongiwe Madlala, in O Holy Night and Panis
Angelicus.
Carols
