Drakensberg Boys Choir announces 2026 Zimbabwe Heritage Tour: Hope. Heritage. Harmony.

This March, Zimbabwean audiences will experience an unforgettable celebration of sound, spirit and southern African identity as the internationally-acclaimed Drakensberg Boys Choir School (DBCS) brings its Zimbabwe Heritage Tour to Victoria Falls, Bulawayo and Harare from March 28 to April 1, 2026.

Four electrifying performances will blend soaring classical masterworks, deeply-moving contemporary pieces and rhythm-infused indigenous repertoire into a concert experience that is both powerful and profoundly uplifting.

"Touring within southern Africa is incredibly meaningful to us," says Hendrik Bekker, Executive Head of DBCS. "Zimbabwe and South Africa share deep choral traditions rooted in community, storytelling and rhythm. This tour celebrates shared heritage while inspiring hope through youthful voices.

Jacques Linde, Head of Choral Activity, adds: "The theme Hope. Heritage. Harmony. speaks to who we are as a choir. "Hope reflects the optimism embodied in our boys and in our African future. Heritage acknowledges the traditions that shape our South African identity. Harmony represents not only musical alignment, but unity, collaboration and shared purpose."

The repertoire for this tour has been carefully-curated to reflect the versatility for which the Drakensberg Boys Choir is internationally recognised. From classical masterworks, to contemporary repertoire, and a vibrant indigenous South African programme, forming the heart of the concert and integrating rhythm, language, movement and choral discipline into a uniquely southern African artistic statement. Together, these elements present a choir that is both rooted in tradition and responsive to the present moment.

Under Linde's direction – himself an alumnus of the Choir – the 2026 season focuses on cultivating a healthy, unified and artistically sincere sound, ensuring that the next generation continues to uphold the Choir's international standing.

Founded in 1967, the Drakensberg Boys Choir School prepares boys for life and leadership through excellence in music, academics, sport and social enrichment in a Christian environment. The school remains the only institution on the African continent where choral singing forms part of the daily curriculum, enabling sustained musical training and artistic growth.
