“Hats off, the gentleman’s a genius” is the famous quote by composer, pianist and critic, Robert Schumann in an 1831 review effusively praising young composer, Frédéric Chopin’s talent.

Conrad van Alphen will be conducting the KZN Philharmonic’s second and final 2026 Summer Season concert which takes place in The Playhouse Opera on Thursday March 12, starting at 19h00.
Audiences will be transported to an elegant, bygone era with Fauré's enchanting Masques et bergamasques; two of the Polish master, Chopin’s early works, Variations on La ci darem la mano and the Grande polonaise brillante, performed on piano by Ludmil Angelov, and Beethoven’s Symphony No 2.
